The C.H.I.E.F.S.™ Framework

"Six pillars. Ten factors. Fifty criteria. One honest report."

C.H.I.E.F.S.™ is built on 16 years of biomedical commercialization. The framework distills that experience into a structured, comparable, and defensible evaluation of where any health innovation actually stands.

Why it exists

Most early-stage health innovations fail for a small number of well-known reasons. C.H.I.E.F.S. catches them.

The framework rests on six strategic pillars: Customer, Health-Economics, Impact, Execution, Financials, and Scalability, each grounded in factors that experienced investors, hospital administrators, and acquirers test for when they decide whether to engage.

The result is an evaluation that doesn’t just tell you what’s strong. It tells you what’s missing, why it matters, and what to do about it.

That’s the gap C.H.I.E.F.S.™ was built to close.

The Framework

Six pillars. Each one answers a question
your funders are already asking.

C

Pillar 01

Customer

Who actually adopts this — and why now.

Innovators tend to know their users. They know fewer of the people who actually authorize the purchase, write the cheque, or block the sale. The Customer pillar maps the real decision chain: who benefits, who pays, who blocks, and who advocates. It’s where assumptions about adoption either hold up or fall apart.

Covers: TAM/SAM/SOM positioning, decision-maker mapping, channel logic, and the credibility signals each buyer requires.

H

Pillar 02

Health-Economics

If the system can't pay for it, the system won't adopt it.

Health-Economics asks the question every payer eventually asks: what does this save, prevent, or replace? It connects clinical outcomes to dollars, hours, beds, readmissions, and the line items that move the procurement conversation forward. Strong science with weak economics rarely scales. Strong science with clear economics moves fast.

Covers: Reimbursement logic, cost displacement, productivity gains, and the evidence that turns a clinical claim into a procurement case.

I

Pillar 03

Impact

What actually changes — and does it matter?

Impact captures the clinical, operational, and system-level value your innovation can deliver when properly advanced through commercialization. Strong IP without meaningful clinical impact is hollow. Compelling clinical impact without protection invites copying. Integration is where defensibility lives

Covers: Type and depth of innovation, IP strength and freedom to operate, development maturity, and the credibility of the team driving adoption.

E

Pillar 04

Execution

Strategy is rented. Execution is owned.

Execution is where good plans either become real companies or become slide decks. We look at the operational signals that tell us whether the team and the structure are equipped to deliver — milestones met, hires made on time, regulatory tracks managed, partners landed and retained.

Covers: Team composition, operational maturity, milestone discipline, regulatory pathway, and partnership traction.

F

Pillar 05

Financials

A capital plan is not a wish. It's a sequence.

The Financials pillar asks whether the money you have, the money you’re seeking, and the money you’ll need next all line up with the path you’ve laid out. It tests the realism of the use of funds, the order of dilutive and non-dilutive sources, and the assumptions baked into the model.

Covers: Early funding, current raise, use of funds, capital structure, and the alignment of capital strategy with commercialization milestones.

S

Pillar 06

Scalability

A win in one hospital is a story. A repeatable win is a company.

Scalability tests whether what works once can work a hundred times — across sites, geographies, payer environments, and customer segments. In a capital-efficient environment, these are no longer nice-to-haves. They are the difference between a successful product and a successful business.

Covers: Corporate development readiness, strategic partnerships, exit alignment, and the operational foundations that allow a venture to grow without breaking.

Beneath the pillars

Ten critical factors. Fifty proprietary criteria.

Each evaluation produces an aggregate score out of 50, a factor-by-factor breakdown,
and recommended actions ranked by urgency.

The output

What your report actually looks like.

Every C.H.I.E.F.S. evaluation produces a structured findings report — not a narrative summary, not a slide deck of suggestions. A scored, factor-by-factor read on where you stand and what to do next.

The aggregate score (out of 50) gives you a single defensible number. The factor breakdown tells you exactly where to focus first. The recommendations are ranked by urgency, not importance — because what you do next matters more than what you should eventually do.

The Process

How an evaluation actually runs.

Four steps from first conversation to structured report.

1

Free pre-evaluation — 15 minutes by phone or Zoom

We confirm fit and walk you through the materials we'll need. This is a candid conversation, not a sales call. If C.H.I.E.F.S. isn't the right next step for where you are, we'll tell you that too.

2

You send your public-domain materials

We work exclusively from non-confidential inputs — no NDA required at this stage.

What to send A non-confidential deck (PDF) · Current collateral · IP documentation (filed, issued, PCT, freedom-to-operate) · List of any other IP (copyrights, trademarks) · Management CVs
3

Zoom delivery session and open Q&A

You present your venture. We run the evaluation live and open the floor to questions. It's a peer conversation, not a pitch. You should leave the session with a clear picture of where you stand — before the written report lands.

4

Your structured report — within 48 hours

Within 48 hours of the session you receive your C.H.I.E.F.S. Findings Report — aggregate score, factor-by-factor breakdown, and recommended actions ranked by urgency. A defensible commercialization view you can take to your board, funders, and team.

No cost. No commitment.
